Before your current contract expires, you can subscribe to a new PLAN SANTÉ contract via the GOBYAVA app, through the client area on www.ava.fr, or by contacting your insurance broker, specifying the desired new coverage period.

Yes, for medical expenses related to a claim covered during the contract period, coverage continues for 90 days after the contract ends, whether you remain abroad or return permanently to France.
The “Temporary Return to France” coverage applies to French insured individuals returning to France for less than 30 consecutive days (an option allows extending this period to 90 days). AVA covers expenses related to sudden illness or accident based on the French social security reimbursement rates.
Similarly, in the event of a permanent return to France, the contract ends on the day of your return, unless you subscribe to the “Permanent Return to France” option, which allows you to remain covered for an additional 90 days based on the French social security reimbursement rates.
Yes, up to a maximum of 90 consecutive days outside the Working Holiday country, provided you spend at least 50% of your contract duration in the Working Holiday country.
For student stays, tourist trips of up to 30 consecutive days outside the study/internship country are covered. This can be done multiple times during the contract period, as long as you spend at least 50% of your contract duration in the study/internship country.
If the student chooses not to subscribe to the local insurance offered by the American school (due to its cost or lack of assistance coverage, for example), the student must complete and sign a university waiver that specifies all the necessary insurance coverage.
Upon reviewing this document, AVA will guide the student either towards the PLAN SANTÉ CAMPUS, which meets all university requirements, or towards the PLAN SANTÉ STUDIES (if there are no restrictive conditions).
